Winning Run Continue

It was a change of ‘Home’ venue with the game played at a less sandy Ecclesfield with a much cooler air temperature.
Making his M3’s debut in goal was Bowring. Wragg the Younger returned, with his now new nickname of Moonpig (he specialises in cards), as did the recovered Tomahawk Bandit.
Following on from last week’s demolition of Sheffield 8s the team were warned about complacency. The Adel side was modelled similar to the M3s, a host of promising young players supported by experienced seniors who have played at a higher level in their younger days. The warning was not heeded and the game started with Chap dominating the ball but lethargic with their passing. The pace of the game was slow so they were finding it difficult to get going. For their part Adel were competitive and protected their D well.
An exception to the lethargy was Gigolo who was harassing players in his usual style. It was in fact Gigolo who provided the spark the game needed. Tracking back, he pinched the ball from the Adel midfielder before sprinting down the right channel. Attacking the back line, the Adel defence were at last taken by surprise and Gigolo’s cross was gratefully received by Tomahawk Bandit at the back post to calmly place in the corner of the net.
The goal did give a short burst of impetus from the Chap team. Moonpig was marshalling the midfield and released IceBurg down the right. The experienced Adel defender though blocked everything and sent Iceburg on a perfect swan dive, scraping knuckles on the floor as he landed.
The traffic wasn’t all one way and Adel launched several attacks of their own. Typhoo was once again superb at centre back supported by Shep and Bigfoot and kept the attackers at bay. On occasion when the defence was breached Bowring in goal was well positioned to clear the danger with some excellent kicking.
Head and shoulders above the rest of the team though was Gigolo and he got his reward when once again, like a bee around a honeypot, he harassed the Adel defence into a mistake before placing his shot past the keeper for a half time score of 2-0.
The second half continued in the same vain. A bit like an England football international, Chap rarely demonstrated their talents, but likewise never looked in any real danger of conceding. There were notable half chances from short corners for Jaylynx, Typhoo and Tomahawk Bandit. Hutch deflected a high ball over the bar and Tomahawk Bandit lived up to his name with a well struck tomahawk from the top left of D, but the Adel keeper was never really tested. The game petered out and the final score of 2-0 was a fair reflection of the game.
Back at the ranch there was to be a season first. The MOM Starblazer was comfortably won by Gigolo for his never say die performance and he completed the double by adding the DOD Hotdog for a couple of rants at the umpires before receiving some advice from Reg Hollis.
