Comfortable Victory in Last Home Game of Season

The final home game of the season saw Wakefield 7s visit Hinde House. A strong Chap team was on show with Typhoo and Von Ryan returning to the fold, though Shep was unfortunately unavailable. Moonpig had planned to play but due to a late time change in the 2s game, stepped up to fill in with the umpires whistle instead.
Once the pitch had been cleared of its little allotment, with Fitbit’s tiny snow shovel, the game was underway. Chap were out of the blocks quickly and probed the Wakefield D from both flanks. A penalty corner was won and Tomahawks effort was guided in on the right post by Iceburg to give Chap the lead within two minutes.
Wakefield were in disarray and Chap’s wide midfielders, Von Ryan and Texas, were finding lots of space to launch fresh attacks. Chap gained a host more penalty corners increasing the pressure on the Wakefield backline. The pressure told and Hutch was able to intercept a defenders clearance before advancing into the D. With the keeper narrowing the angle, Hutch squared to Tomahawk Bandit at the back post for a tap in and 2-0.
With the game seemingly ‘easy’ Chap then lost their way a bit. Players were being caught too advanced, out of position, and this allowed Wakefield to see more of the ball. Chap then found themselves down to 10 men for a short time when Boss Hogg, whilst completing a timely interception, completely forgot which side of his stick to play with resulting in a green.
The end of the half presented Chap with a golden opportunity to finish the game. From a penalty corner the ball fell to Iceburg who flicked the ball towards goal. The defender on the line could do little other than block it with his body, Moonpig having no hesitation in awarding the stroke. Tomahawk Bandit bravely stepped forward to take the opportunity. Though his effort was well taken the Wakefield keeper guessed right and made a good right handed save.
The second half and Chap settled back into their usual rhythm. Hutch and Chuckle#2 had control of the central areas and Von Ryan on the left was still the perfect outlet for launching attacks into the final quarter. It was from this area that Chap eventually scored their third goal. Linking with Chuckle#2, Von Ryan carried the ball into the D before playing the ball square to the back post. This time it was Gigolo who was waiting to take advantage of an easy tap-in.
Wakefield chances were few and far between but a counter attack saw Chap down to 10 men again late-on. This time it was Typhoo who became a little forgetful and thought he was out dancing rather than playing hockey, tangoing his opponent to the floor with complete disregard to the ball’s location. This loss of a player made no difference to the general direction of play and Chap added a fourth and final goal when a Tomahawk Bandit shot was initially well saved by the keeper, only for Chuckle#2 to be on hand to snaffle the rebound.
Over the after match Chicken Curry, Von Ryan was declared the MOM StarBlazer with Gigolo taking the DOD Hot Dog.
