Boring 0-0 Draw - NOT!

So we traveled the distance to Ben Rhydding to play Skipton 1st XI feeling confident after we clinched a point with the final touch of the ball last week and with a great coaching session under our belt. The score line doesn't reflect the nature of the game, with end to end play with both teams playing attacking hockey. The Chapeltown defence soaked up the attack and kept out their short corners. A flick wouldn't have been contended following a very dubious (deliberate) foul in the D on Eve Bradshaw, however, we settled for the short but failed to convert it and many more - we know what we need to practice this Wednesday!! The first half drew to a close but not without some fantastic play from ourselves.

The second half saw a slight change in team format with Amie Gillott dropping into midfield and Maisie Temple moving onto the forward line. This move sealed the man of the match for Miss Gillott, who had "her best game yet", according to one of the voting slips. She was composed on the ball, stood her ground in the tackles and won her battles. Unlike her mother, she listened to the team talk, and did everything that was asked of her (and more!). Gillott senior needs to practice more of what she preaches and pass the ball the way she is facing, rather than wanting to create unnecessary battles in the middle of the park (Brownie just for you!) - although I did win most of them (at least thats what my memory is telling me!). Outstanding game from the team, yet again, with mentions to Eve, as ever, giving her all and leaving everything on the pitch - as did everybody. This team is committed to each other and keeps on growing and getting stronger each week - bringing 1 point home is not to be sniffed at, from a cold and blustery Ben Rhydding. Man of the Match - Amie Gillott, Dick of the Day - Ian Brown (just for being there and closely contested by Paulo - who was so keen, he turned up an hour early!).
