Ladies 1’s on the road again, just up to Leeds Adel 3’s after a long break. We set off with a good tempo and took the lead following a tackle from the Anne Bowring at the back, a slick pass to Emma Finch who rolled Rachel Gillott in for a 1 on 1 with the keeper, who casually placed it between the GK legs, picked it up on the other side of her and stroked it gracefully into the goal. The game was evenly balanced and Adel equalised with a lucky reverse stick strike hitting the back netting. The girls dug deep, worked hard for each other and did what was asked of them. Leeds took their chance with an easy tap in from about 12 inches, leaving the chap girls to find another goal to save a point. A Short corner opportunity presented with a perfectly executed injection and stop, rolled in for a strike from Eve Bradshaw who aimed for the bottom right corner, picking the perfect angle off the defenders foot who very generously deflected it into goal. Superb team effort with votes shared across many, with Amie Gillott and Rachel Gillott tying on votes with the re- vote going to Amie Gillott for a well deserved Man of the Match and despite some shoe blunders on the way up, it was going to take a lot to take the dod vote away from the ‘Gillotts’ but re-entering the pitch without your stick at substitution took the biscuit for Dianne Susan Hucknall. Great Game, great team, great start to the second half season campaign and with three home fixtures coming up, things are looking good. #bestseasonyet
