Committee Meeting Highlights - 10th April 2018

Rachel Gillott10 Apr 2018 - 22:24

Ever wondered what we get upto and discuss? See the following 'highlights' below;

Tonights Committee meeting was full of discussion and loads of business was discussed, here are the highlights and outcomes;

  • Player selection and development will remain a key focus next season, with a new approach to supporting captains to select players to ensure our players are given opportunities to progress through our teams and play at the highest level possible for their ability and potential; keeping player, team and club long term development at the heart of our selection process.

  • We plan (at this time) to run three ladies and 4 mens teams again next season - we may review this at the start of next season when we will know exact numbers in ladies and men's section.

  • AGM 8th May 2018 - 7pm for 7.30pm start; still time to get your nominations made or interest expressed in any official posts. Support will be given to all new incumbents - see below.

  • A proposal will be made to the AGM to keep membership and match fees at the same rates as 17/18 for next season.

  • A number of nominations have been received for captaincy posts and a number of key committee roles. Of course we are still seeking other nominations for key positions, including Chair, Vice Chair, membership secretary, club captain, Social Secretary (male member needed). Obviously if you wish to undertake one of the roles where nominations have been received, then please do let an existing committee member know - we can shuffle things around to accommodate any new interest. Committee members are confident that we will fill these positions at the AGM - please let us know if you are interested in getting involved or wish to find out more about any of these or other roles. . All current known nominations are subject to approval at the AGM.

  • A very positive meeting has been held with Interserve - facilities management company at Ecclesfield School about the future development of the facilities including the erection of floodlights (subject to planning permission).

  • We have secured agreement (with Interserve) to hold as many fixtures as possible at Ecclesfield School next season (due to the resurfacing at Hinde House).

  • Entry has been made to the Summer League organised by Sheffield HC - Josh Gemmil and Denbar (not sure if that's the correct spelling) will be organising.

  • We will be supporting a primary school Hockey Festival across the North of Sheffield at Ecclesfield school on 3rd May. We plan to hold a 6 week 'Introduction to hockey' club following this, to enable any interested youngsters to make the transition into our sport. More details to follow and support will be needed.

  • We will be running our very own Chapeltown 'World Cup' over the summer, building on the success of last years inter-club fixtures. Gary Marshall has offered to co-ordinate and Louise Cooper has offered to support. More details to follow.

  • 100 Club winner - no. 161 - Rachel Gillott - drinks are on me at the Annual Dinner!. If you want to be in with a chance of winning each month please sign-up. The 100 club and 'bonus ball' lotteries are excellent fundraisers. If you don't know how to join - details are included in the membership form (forms section on here!) or ask one of the committee members or captains.

  • Coaching Level 1 course to be held at Aurora/University Park in Rotherham on 19th May - upto 100% funding available via the club (subject to meeting conditions) - if interested please look out for more information on here and on Facebook.
