The final game was an entertaining affair against local rivals Rotherham. These games always have a little extra to them as many of the players are known to each other. Once again the teams desire to beat their rivals led to them forgetting the game plan at times. Regularly players ran directly at their opposition only to lose the ball, and they were punished early as a Rotherham midfielder was allowed to ride 3-4 sloppy challenges before firing past a helpless Chocolate in goal.
The response was quick. Finally using the width Von Ryan played in Tomahawk at the top of the D. Tomahawk the found Ponch at the back left post who controlled before lifting the ball into the net from a narrow angle. The goal settled the team and they had a period of good possession. From this they gained a short corner. Mad Max fed it in well to Tomahawk on the top of the D who's strong early shot nestled gloriously into the right corner for 2-1. With their tails up it time for goal of the day. Mad Max played an early ball through the centre that was missed by the defender. Ponch was on it first and pushed it past the last defender. His speed took him clear and with the keeper quickly closing the angle , Ponch lifted the ball beautifully over the keeper just as the ball entered the D where, still in the air, it crossed the line below the crossbar for 3-1. The team then became a little over confident and the central players seemed to forget that it was the width of Von Ryan and Texas Ranger that had opened up the defence. Trying to force the ball through the centre possession was regularly conceded and the game became scrappy. Eventually the message came through and the team were again rewarded. Von Ryan was found in acres of space on the left. He drove forward before playing in Ponch who finished off his hat-trick.
It was then time for the defence to fall asleep again. Not heeding the initial warning of the first goal they were once again too far apart as the Rotherham midfielder once again rode 2-3 challenges before firing past Chocolate to make it 4-2. The scoring wasn't over though as Texas Ranger fired in a cross from the right. Mad Max initial shot was spectacularly saved by the Rotherham keeper but Tomahawk was cool on the rebound dragging the ball into the right corner for a 5-2 victory.
